This stylish 1975 brown toned wool felt overcoat with cape feature is by Yves Saint Laurent as part of the Rive Gauche collection. The piece is of exceptional quality and in pristine vintage condition. A classic style for this era and predecessor to the famous look that inspired the 1976 Peasant collection, this is a much coveted and very wearable piece. The coat is ankle length and fastens at the centre front with 8 x buttons from the round collared neckline. The coat is sleeveless and tailored into an A-line cut with a generous flare from the bust and a slit on either side from the hem to the knee. The cape detail is stitched into the collar and falls easily over the shoulders to just below the hip, remaining open at the front.
